Vela is a female-run candle-making studio in Hell’s Kitchen, NYC, offering fully hands-on experiences from start to finish.
At Vela, we treat candle making like cooking. All it takes is the right recipe, quality ingredients, a dash of creativity, and a pinch of patience to make the perfect candle. Our studio is designed to feel like you’re stepping into a friend’s kitchen: open, warm, and full of character. The shelves are lined with ingredients and tools ready to be used; the butcher-block tables are where everything happens, and nothing is hidden behind closed doors. It’s simple, personal, and a little imperfect in the best way possible.
From classic soy candles to massage candles, wax melts, taper candles, and accent arch candles, every workshop is a hands-on, start-to-finish experience. You’ll melt your own wax, blend fragrances, learn about the ingredients we use, and pour a candle that is completely your own.
Our beginner-friendly workshops are perfect for friend hangouts, birthdays, date nights, team events, celebrations, or a cozy rainy-day activity in NYC. Whether you come solo or with your crew, you’ll leave with a candle—or two—that looks amazing, smells incredible, and tells your story.
